Friends of Loch Hourn harness images as part of Scottish PR campaign against salmon farming

A TINY highland community scored a memorable victory over a billion-pound salmon farming giant – and used a Scottish PR photography to help share the news far and wide.

Friends of Loch Hourn was set up to battle a proposed extension to Mowi’s salmon farm on the loch. Campaigners believe lice affecting the farmed salmon have led to a collapse in wild salmon and sea trout populations.

When the group won a landmark council decision, preventing the farm from expanding, the organisers were keen to share the news, particularly to hearten other tiny coastal communities facing similar challenges.

They called in experts from Scottish PR agency Holyrood PR and we immediately brought in experienced, Highland-based photographer Peter Jolly to capture a selection of powerful images.

We pulled the group’s story into a powerful and accessible media release and, along with the PR photography, created a compelling package which caught the attention of media all over the UK.
