A £119,000 INVESTMENT is to transform a Livingston retirement housing development as part of a move that will see improvements made to a number of apartments and its exterior.

Bield’s Restondene in the Deans area of the town will have works completed by Holytown based Rodgers and Johnston Ltd.

Jim Johnston at Rodgers & Johnston Ltd, said: “We are delighted to be undertaking this work on behalf of Bield, they are hugely respected housing provider so we are pleased to be associated with them.

“Having worked closely with Bield for a number of years, we appreciate the high standards expected in what is a significant contract for the local area.”

Now the developers have released a CGI that reveals the impact the work will have on the look of the property.

The development’s renovations will take place over the next few weeks resulting in seven of the 26 apartments being converted into one bedroom flats from bedsits.

This work is part of a rolling programme converting all bedsit properties into one bedroom apartments, providing modern accommodation for current and future tenants.

Elsewhere the exterior of the development will be updated to provide a more modern setting.

Originally built in 1977, Bield took ownership of Restondene in 1996 through a stock transfer.

Tracey Howatt, Bield’s Housing Operations Manager, said: “Rodgers and Johnston have worked with us on a number of occasions and we are pleased to be doing so again.

“It is great to be using a local contractor ensuring that not only will Livingston benefit from the improvements to Restondene but funds will stay in the area.”

This investment is part of Bield’s Asset Management Strategy which will make improvements to its developments across Scotland for the benefit of tenants and to provide the highest quality options for prospective occupants.

Bield has been providing high quality housing and related services for older people in Scotland for more than 40 years, supporting those who require constant care as well as residents living fully active and independent lives.
