Divino logoA venue which promises to be the most exciting new location for wine lovers in the UK is to arrive in Scotland in the shape of Divino Enoteca.

Divino Enoteca – which literally translates as ‘wine library’ – is the realisation of a dream by top Edinburgh restaurateur Tony Crolla to create a unique, stylish setting for people to love, learn and appreciate wine.

A Scotland first, Divino Enoteca will feature a range of four state of the art Enomatic wine dispensers, which will allow up to 200 of some of the world’s finest wines to be sampled by the glass.

The innovative technology works by using nitrogen gas to preserve the wines once opened ensuring they do not loose any of their distinctive flavours.

Award-winning sommelier Sebastiano Ingaliso, who has worked in a range of exclusive establishments around UK and Europe, has been appointed to manage Divino Enoteca and ensure it is stocked with some of the most exciting wines to be found anywhere.

Tony Crolla said: “Divino Enoteca will be the first place in Scotland to offer wine lovers the chance to sample some rare wines thanks to the Enomatic technology.

“It means that people who may have always wanted to try a rare vintage, but who have been denied because of the cost of a full bottle or difficulty in sourcing the wine, can now do so.

“Customers can come to Divino Enoteca to take their time to relax and enjoy the flavours and aromas of the wines and food on offer.

“We have a simple aim – to be the best enoteca wine bar in the UK.”

Divino Enoteca – situated in a historic building in Edinburgh’s Old Town – will combine the contemporary with the traditional, using candles, original oak flooring and stone walls as well as stylish leather seating and a travertine bar top, to create a dramatic and visually appealing setting.

There will also be an enclosed courtyard outside in the style of a summer Italian garden allowing customers to enjoy their wine al fresco.

Selections of fine Italian foods – such as cheeses, marinated vegetables, olives, salamis, cured meats – will be served to perfectly complement the wines on offer.

Another distinguishing feature will be the Divino Enoteca wine education room, a 14-seater private room that can host wine tasting sessions under the guidance of top wine experts and provide an excellent location for private parties, business events or special occasions. The private room will also host wine tasting sessions and wine education courses.

Divino Enoteca, located in Merchant Street in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket area,  is scheduled to open in early August.
