After reducing the number of turbines on the wind farm sites between Gransthouse and Abbey St Bathans from 20 to 14, Quixwood wind farm developers are offering £7.1 million worth of contracts to be tendered for.

In addition to those offerings, there will be around 55 jobs during the construction phase.

Business leaders praised the wind farm company’s offer, and are urging local businesses to go along to Banks Renewables‘ ‘Meet the Buyers’ event in Galashiels on Thursday, June 28 at Borders College on Nether Road from 1-4pm.

Ged Gowans, Director of Borders Chambers of Commerce said, “We are delighted to welcome events like this to the Borders as we know how much value this could bring to local businesses and inject into the wider local economy.

“It also opens up an opportunity for companies to work on renewable projects, which is a great thing as the industry is growing and will increasingly need local contractors who have experience.

Banks Renewables, who submitted a planning application to the Scottish Borders Council earlier this year, prides itself on its “development with care approach” and say they are “pcommitted to working with communities where it has projects to ensure they see long term benefits.”

Banks Renewables is part of the Banks Group, a family firm founded in 1976, which now employs 380 people in the renewable energy, property and mining sectors. The company’s development with care approach underpins all community consultation and ensures environmental excellence.
