Wind Farm proposal breezes into local press

on behalf of Banks Group
Banks Renewables gained some coverage this week for its proposal of a new Wind Farm at Birneyknowe, in the Scottish Borders. The Southern Reporter, and its online version, told how the local community will see the benefits of this project.
The wind energy company lodged a plan for up to 15 turbines at the site between Hawick and Bonchester Bridge, each up to 132m high. Residents will benefit for the initiative as a share of the wind farm revenues, up to £7.5 million over 25 years, will reverse in the community to be invested in the area’s main priorities. At the same time, Banks Group agreed to boost local companies requiring their services wherever possible during the construction phase.
Once operational, the project would contribute up to £300,000 a year into a community fund, with local people deciding where the money should be invested. Phil Dyke, development director at Banks Renewables, said that they have drawn up the best possible proposal ensuring that, if the wind farm is approved it will have a hugely positive impact on communities surrounding the site.
