Renewables developer submits a strong appeal challenging East Ayrshire wind farm decision
The application to build an eight-turbine wind farm at High Cumnock was refused by East Ayrshire Council despite 477 letters of support and just eight letters of objection. Two of the letters of support come from community councils closest to the proposed site – who have vehemently supported the project, encourage the boost to a local economy hit by the decline of coal mining and the manufacturing industry.
As a pioneer for sustainable and responsible development the Hamilton based firm is keen to build and maintain great relationships with surrounding communities. The proposal for the High Cumnock site could provide employment for up to 100 local people in East Ayrshire, also securing a £33 million ‘shot in the arm’ for the local economy.
Holyrood Partnership continues its hard work to ensure the voice of Banks Renewables is reaching an audience that matters in the debate with East Ayrshire Council’s contention over the proposal. Positive local coverage in the Cumnock Chronicle detailed the benefits to local economy and community that the investment could bring.
Featuring in local press coverage is crucial to the generation of support from local communities at the heart of the debate. To find out more about Holyrood Partnerships emphasis on local press read our blog post.
