LIKE MOST highly-specialised experts, Panton McLeod faced a major challenge to make a splash with its niche services.

The respected water quality engineering company supports the UK drinking water industry by inspecting, cleaning and maintaining  drinking water structures, including supply pipelines, water treatment works and service reservoirs, like the one pictured.

In a sector seen as uninteresting and heavy with technical jargon, we conceived a campaign to catch the public imagination with a series of quirky, entertaining and informative stories.

During an incredibly fruitful partnership, our public relations campaign was a resounding success with:

  • At least 349 significant items of media coverage in all target publications
  • 161 articles in specialist water press
  • 112 pieces of local and national press coverage
  • 35 pieces of business press coverage
  • 41 pieces of other coverage (including BBC Online)

Panton McLeod has grown consistently since 2004, with the executive team crediting positive media coverage as a vital element in opening doors to win business with water companies across the UK.

We enabled Panton McLeod to diversify into new sectors where water cooling towers are widely used. Our coverage generated business leads from the nuclear, petrochemical and food processing sectors.

Our hugely successful PR campaign included a ‘mission to inform’ the public about the nationwide network of huge water tanks hidden underground – including some service reservoirs the size of cathedrals.

We also focusing on the remotely controlled robot – the only one of its type in the UK –  used by Panton McLeod  and pointed out its likeness to popular Disney-Pixar character Wall.E, while providing side-by-side comparison images.
