Robot Helps Scottish Firm Clean Up in the PR Stakes

Panton McLeod, a foremost UK expert in drinking water quality, has featured in Scotland’s biggest selling broadsheet newspaper following a major project in Glasgow.

The company’s expert teams work across the UK, specialising in cleaning, maintaining and repairing the many different structures used by the drinking water industry.

Since the purity of drinking water is so highly-regulated, only proven experts can work in the sector and Panton McLeod is a recognised leader in the field.

A key service offered by the company, which has its HQ in the Scottish Borders, is to use a specialist, remote controlled robot, which can clean drinking water storage tanks without the need to take them out of supply.

Now the company’s work has featured in the pages of The Herald newspaper after the robot was used to clean huge undergound water storage tanks serving thousands of people in Springburn Park, Glasgow and in Dunoon and Cambeltown.

The project work, carried out on behalf of Scottish Water, allowed the facilities to be maintained to the highest regulatory standards – without closing down and emptying the tanks, which would leave thousands of customers without water.

In its report, The Herald pointed out how the company’s VR600 robot bears an uncanny resemblance to the Disney Pixar animated movie character, Wall-E.

As well as removing sediment from the floor of water facilities, the VR600 robot is fitted with lights and cameras, which allow it to inspect the inside of tanks and associated pipework.

Panton McLeod enjoys a positive media profile, thanks to the help and support of long-term strategic partner Holryood Partnership, PR and social media agency.
