Coverage for Bield Pays Homage to Courageous War Veteran, With Help of Successful PR Campaign
Tenants at Milton Court, a Bield retirement housing development in Portobello, were faced with a wonderful surprise when Vladimir Putin’s top diplomat in Scotland, Andrey Pritsepov, paid a visit to the development.
Looking to meet with Alex Ramsay, a tenant at the development, the Russian Consul came bearing gifts of war medals and vodka to give to Alex for his efforts during the war.
Alex, an 88 year old veteran of the Merchant Navy, was part of the 1944 Arctic Convoy and played a key role in distributing vital supplies to the Soviet Union. Alex’s brave actions, which were carried out in treacherous and freezing conditions, were vital in assisting the Soviet Union as they battled the axis powers on the Western Front.
Alex’s courageous war effort, saw him not only awarded with the Ushakov Medal, but also saw him receive a bottle of traditional Russian vodka to help celebrate.
The touching story made its way into a range of different publications from UK nationals, including BBC News, STV, Deadline News and The Daily Record, to important trade publications such as Care Industry News and Scottish Housing News.
Absolutely delighted by the Russian Consul’s visit to the development, staff at Milton Court were keen to celebrate Alex’s significant war efforts by throwing a party in his honour.
This latest media success is the proof of the effective collaboration between Bield Housing and Care and the award winning PR agency Holyrood Partnership.
