Vittoria and La Favorita owner Tony CrollaAn award-winning Italian restaurant group has launched a special credit crunch-busting meal deal in order to help raise money for a local children’s charity.

Popular Edinburgh restaurants Vittoria and La Favorita are offering families the chance to pay just £1 for a child’s meal at any of its three venues – with all of the money being donated towards the Forth One and Forth2 Cash for Kids appeal.

The special deal has been introduced to help ease the financial burden on parents who still want to take their young children out on a family meal.

Under the initiative, any child under 12 will be able to have a full meal from Vittoria’s extensive children’s menu for just £1 – as long as they are accompanied by an adult who is eating from the a la carte menu.

Linda McKeown, manager at Vittoria on the Bridge, said: “Many families are still feeling the pinch thanks to the recession, so we have decided to offer them a bit of welcome relief.

“With this new offer at Vittorias and La Favorita, Edinburgh’s friendliest family restaurants, we are giving parents the chance to pay just £1 for their children to eat out. The offer will run across all three of our venues and there is no catch whatsoever – if a parent is eating from the a la carte menu, then their child will receive a meal from our extensive children’s menu for just a pound.

“All of the money that we receive from this deal will be donated to the Forth One and Forth2 Cash for Kids Appeal, so we’re hoping that this will prove very popular with families across Edinburgh. After all, not only it is a good money-saving deal for families, but it is also helping to raise money for a very important and worthy charity.

“We’re the only group that’s offering this kind of saving to customers and we will be running the offer for the foreseeable future. Hopefully it will encourage more people to come and have a great family night out while giving some much-needed money to a good cause.”

Evelyn Queen, charity manager for Radio Forth’s Cash 4 Kids Appeal, added: “We are absolutely delighted to have Vittorias and La Favourita as our charity partners this year. Radio Forth’s Cash for Kids helps local children with special needs, and we depend entirely on generosity to raise the much needed funds.

“To give us the proceeds from the Kids eat for £1 is quite inspired and shows how generous and community spirited the owner of these excellent restaurants is. So a huge Thank You from Cash for Kids!”

To qualify for the “kids eat for £1” deal, parents must choose at least a main course from the a la carte menu at any of the three restaurants – Vittoria on the Bridge, Vittoria on the Walk or La Favorita.

Every £1 paid for a child’s meal will be donated to the Forth One and Forth 2 Cash for Kids appeal, which helps support underprivileged children in Edinburgh and the Lothians. Diners are welcome to offer a further donation towards the charity if they wish.
