U.S. Kids Golf European Championship

Over 500 of the world’s top young golfers arrived in East Lothain Scotland this month (MAY) to take part in one of the biggest events of the junior golfing calendar.

Despite a blustry start, the U.S. Kids Golf European Championships opening day was a huge success with hundreds of kids from over 40 different countries teeing off and showcasing their talents on some of Scotland’s top golfing greens.

The Championships took place from May 28 – 30 on Gullane No 2, Gullane No 3, Craigielaw Golf Club, Luffness New Golf Club and Longniddry Golf Club with the courses modified for each age group to provide the same level challenge over the same number of holes.

Winners in each of the categories will then go on to compete in the Van Horn Cup on May 31 a showpiece event styled on the Ryder Cup pitting Europe against the rest of the world.

So far the evnt has been a huge success attracting the support of Hollywood director David Frankel who is at the championships to support his twins who are both competing this year.

Organisers of the event the U.S. Kids Golf Foundation was launched in 2001 to provide opportunities for children across the world to learn and play golf and forge new friendships.
