Falkirk school pupils take part in Olympic lesson to celebrate Learn to Swim programme

WE went along to Grangemouth Sports Complex to capture the one-of-a-kind swimming lesson held by Olympic medallist Duncan Scott in a PR video celebrating the success of Scotland’s Learn to Swim Framework.

The success of the scheme in Falkirk Community Trust area extends beyond local schools, with almost a quarter of all participants in the area of pre-school age, between 3 and 5 years – a fact Duncan said he believed was crucial in getting the nation’s youngsters swimming.

The video shows Duncan jumping into the pool alongside the youngsters, showing them some top techniques before taking part in an informative Q&A session.

Maureen Campbell, Chief Executive of Falkirk Community Trust is interviewed along with Forbes Dunlop of Scottish Swimming, who both speak of the success of the framework in improving the swimming abilities of young people across Scotland.

Learn to Swim is developed by Scottish Swimming and supported by Scottish Water, equipping children with key skills to make them safer in the water and become more confident and competent swimmers.
