Drone filming Scotland team capture a swimming hero’s return

Scottish Water

Don’t dive straight into the pool, fly above it. Our drone filming Scotland expertise helps make a splash at homecoming event.

WE EARMARKED Scottish Water welcoming back Duncan Scott, an inspirational champion swimmer who returned home from the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games now with 6 medals to his name, by capturing it all on video, thanks to our drone filming Scotland skillset.

He is filmed returning to his beloved childhood town of Troon and the pool where his incredible success began. We decided to partially film this video with a drone, as it allows people to see a huge expanse of the area where Duncan Scott grew up. This footage felt like it gave more insight into the life of the champion swimmer, whilst seeing a view that added a whole new dimension to the story we were telling.

The drone provides us with an aerial shot of the pool where Duncan spent most of his time training. The spectacular shot the drone took allowed us to create such a vivid picture as he told us his story about his memories there. He is now a Learn to Swim Ambassador, motivating the new swimmers of the local pool and we got to witness this setting from an incredible view.

The landscape of housing can be seen stretching beautifully out to the coast as friendly neighbours and family friends talk about their pride in Duncan’s accomplishments. Afterwards, the pool can be seen in the centre of the shot, showing us the surrounding houses that home the supporters of his dream.

One local man interviewed was so happy to see Scott come “back to his roots”.

With the aerial view of his roots before us, the drone managed to create such a dramatic shot of the area we feel we now know thanks to the quality and skill of drone footage.
