Keeping Fit at Castlebank

Bield Housing And Care

Two care residents team up to keep development fit and healthy

SOCIAL CARE PR experts share the story of blind pensioner, Charlotte, and DJ neighbour, Elizabeth, joining forces to lead chair-based exercise classes at Bield’s Castlebank Garden’s development.

Despite being blind, fitness instructor Charlotte was keen to have a good time with her neighbours while keeping everyone fit.

Charlotte said “I like to stay motivated as I’m not the type of person to feel sorry for myself or become isolated in my flat. This group provides a space, for those with similar feelings to me, to come and be an active part of something.”

Sarah Cannon, Manager at Castlebank Gardens, said: “Everyone at Castlebank admires Charlotte’s determination and really appreciates the time she spends not only with the exercise group but also with her gardening and other efforts.

Bield is a registered charity which grew from humble beginnings, starting out with one housing development in Bo’ness, and now provides housing services for around 20,000 older people across 23 local authority areas. It’s new strategy for property development provides housing solutions – with greater choice and flexibility – to address the needs of the current generation of older people and the next.
