Swimming Champion Hannah Miley joins Shetland youngsters to celebrate learn to swim framework

WHEN Commonwealth and Olympic swimmer Hannah Miley visited young people in Shetland to celebrate the progress of Scottish Swimming’s Learn to Swim programme, we knew we had to capture the event in a PR video.

The event saw Hannah and 50 pupils from nearby primary schools take part in a masterclass at Lerwick’s Clickimin Leisure Complex, marking Shetland Recreational Trust’s progress in delivering Scottish Swimming’s Learn to Swim Framework in partnership with Scottish Water.

Gillian Hay, Director of Corporate Affairs at Scottish Water, along with James Johnston of Shetland Recreational Trust and Sharon MacDonald of Scottish Swimming are interviewed and speak of the importance of instilling a love of swimming from a young age.

With Shetland being the UK’s most northerly provider of swimming lessons for youngsters, the location of the event signifies the success of the Learn to Swim Framework in delivering lessons across the country.

Our drone filming expert was also able to capture the event from the skies, using a Phantom Drone 4 to create the opening shot which provides panoramic views of the pool’s coastal location.

The Learn to Swim Framework helps to create quality Learn to Swim environments for children from birth upwards where they can become competent, confident and safe swimmers with opportunities to progress through the aquatic pathway and to swim for fun.
