HUNDREDS of young golfers have flown in from around the world to take part in the junior European Champion tournament being held from today (Tuesday).

As many as 500 players Ð aged from six to 18 years old Ð will tee off around four Links courses in East Lothian.

The tournament runs until June 3 and takes place on two of the three courses at Gullane, as well as Craigielaw and Longniddry Golf Clubs.

Youngsters have travelled from as far as Australia, Thailand and Africa to compete in the event, now in its third year.

And the honour of being the youngest player at the tournament had to be shared by two six-year-olds.

Eden Bailey, from Weston-Super-Mare and Ian Fritz from America both turned six on February 4 this year and will be competing in the under-sevens boysÕ category.
