Two-Ticks For Scottish Courier Firm As It Proves Credentials

Eagle Couriers Press releases

Professional PR Photography by Holyrood PR for Eagle CouriersScotland’s largest courier firm has been awarded a Jobcentre Plus accolade for its commitment to employing and developing the abilities of disabled staff.

Eagle Couriers is believed to be the first Scottish headquartered firm of its type and just the second West Lothian business to have achieved the two-tick certification, which was created to help disabled job hunters source the most responsible employers.

From its headquarters in West Lothian and bases in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen Eagle Couriers has achieved the coveted ‘Investors in People’ status, has a fleet in excess of 120 vehicles and has a 20-strong office based team.

Co-Director of Eagle Couriers, Jerry Stewart, said: “It is so important that everybody has the chance to show their skills in a job which they are well equipped to do.

“The two ticks commitment was an easy one for us to make as we want to make sure we support anybody looking for a job with us and will consider all applications.
“This not only applies to the interview stage, employers must take the responsibility of supporting staff in the work place and be as understanding as possible, as issues such as difficult access, if left, can develop into major problems.”

Ken Bramham, Jobcentre Plus district manager said: “This sends a positive message that Eagle Couriers values its people and the contribution they make to the business and shows disabled jobseekers that they are committed to treating them fairly in recruitment and employment.

“Like Eagle Couriers, all employers are encouraged to be Disability Confident so as to appreciate the benefits to their business, and to recruit from a wide pool of talented people who are skilled, loyal and hard-working.”

By making the commitment and being awarded the two-tick accreditation, Eagle Couriers has proven it has practiced – and will adhere to – the following measures:

  • To interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for a job vacancy and to consider them on their abilities.
  • At least once a year, discuss with disabled employees what both parties can do to make sure they develop and use their abilities.
  • To make every effort to ensure staff stay in employment, should they become disabled.
  • Ensure all employees develop the appropriate level of disability awareness.
  • To review these commitments each year and let employees and Jobcentre Plus know about progress and future plans.

Eagle Couriers will now be permitted to use the two-ticks symbol on marketing materials, highlighting its commitment to encouraging disabled people in the workspace.
