OUTRAGED residents in a plush urban neighbourhood have lost their battle to stop a betting shop opening in their area.
A record number of objections flooded into city planners after an application for the bookmakers in Bruntsfield, Edinburgh, was lodged back in February.
One disgusted resident even insisted the presence of the ‘Bruntsfield bookies’ would be ‘morally wrong’ given its proximity to two schools and insisted it would attract the wrong clientele.
More than 20 objectors even turned up to the planning meeting to mark their disapproval at the proposals.
