WE ARE forever urging our clients to get their best stories and pictures on their websites, because we’re firm believers that great content – the kind which informs, educates or entertains – will boost your business.

Since we like to practice what we preach we upload all the stories, pictures and video from our PR agency in Edinburgh, as well as the best tales from our wide and varied clients.  As a result, our website attracted 85,000 page views from 24,000 unique visitors in 2014 – not bad traffic for a public relations agency in Scotland.

So, we wanted to share the top six posts from the past year to give you an insight into the stories that attract attention when it comes to attracting potential customers to your website – then giving them something to remember you by when they get there.

Here’s the rundown of the chart topping website content on www.holyroodpr.co.uk in 2014.

NUMBER SIX – Our multi award winning PR agency

Award winnning Scottish PR agency Holyrood PR

Wahey – while most of the top six stories reflect our clients, this one is all about us.
In October the Scottish PR industry held its equivalent of the Oscars – the CIPR Pride Awards – and the Holyrood PR team collected five accolades, three gold and two silver.
That was the biggest haul of any PR agency in Scotland, so naturally we were keen to shout about it.
Still buzzing from our night in the spotlight, the following day we posted a round-up of our successes along with photos from the award ceremony.
We had a lot of fun on the night and that certainly comes through in the photos. Check out the post for yourself – and join the 436 other people who’ve already read it.
Considering using PR but unsure what’s involved? Check our Behind the Bling series of posts which explains the real businesses which saw real benefits from our award-winning campaigns.

NUMBER FIVE – Linton’s Lip Lock

PR in Edinburgh, Scotland, for CALA Homes and actress Louise Linton
A wee touch of Hollywood never goes amiss – and glamorous Scots born actress Louise Linton is the beautiful face behind our next most successful post.
We revealed how Louise, who went to school in Edinburgh before moving to Hollywood to pursue her acting career, had landed the lead role in a new rom com.
The movie, Serial Daters Anonymous, saw her act out a passionate lip lock with handsome House of Cards actor, Sam Page just minutes after the pair were introduced on set.
Read the full story about Louise’s on screen lip lock  on our website (It’s already been viewed 455 times) and while you’re at it, check out the dedicated PR hub we maintain for the rising Scottish starlet.

NUMBER FOUR – Soap Star’s Poker Face
Public relations service from Holyrood PR agency in Edinburgh, ScotlandThis is one from the archive – featuring former EastEnders actor Michael Greco.
Back in 2008 we were working with Littlewoods Poker and got the chance to interview the man who played Beppe Di Marco in the Cockney soap.
By that time he’d exited Walford and was pursuing a professional poker career, sponsored by Littlewoods.
We always do our research and before interviewing Michael we dug up a persistent online rumour that he was actually from the east end of the Lothians, rather than the East End of London.
The result? A great wee story from Mr Greco, insisting that his Scottish credentials were greatly exaggerated, that earned wide spread media coverage.
You can read the full story here. Despite dating back six years, this tale has been viewed on our site 467 times in 2014.

NUMBER THREE – Celebs With Scottish Ancestry
PR photography by Edinburgh PR agency Holyrood PRJust to prove that celebrity sells, here’s another post about famous folk – which also happens to be another evergreen post from our archive.
In 2009 our Edinburgh PR agency was commissioned by national tourist body VisitScotland to help write about the many well-known faces across the globe who have proud Scottish roots.
From Barack Obama to Aussie football commentators, with a host of Hollywood A-listers in between, we produced a detailed list which included some surprise insights.
The list was intended to promote the soaring popularity of genealogy in Scotland, as worldwide interest in our country peaked ahead of the 2009 Homecoming event.
We must have done something right – the post attracted 527 views in 2014.

NUMBER TWO – Golfing Prodigies
Edinburgh PR agency Holyroood Partnership earned severa Public relations Awards for its PR campaigns on behalf of U.S. Kids Golf campaignTo attract website visitors, photos and video have never been more important – that’s why we produced this detailed guide to getting the most from pictures to help businesses like yours.
This article about the annual U.S. Kids Golf European Championship is a case in point.
Every year our PR agency in Edinburgh delivers the media coverage for the East Lothian tournament, the most important event in the children’s golfing calendar outside of America.
Ahead of the launch of the 2014 event we pulled together this video introducing the record-breaking start to the tournament.
That featured an interview with junior golfing talent Allan Kournikova, the kid brother of former tennis darling, Anna Kournikova.
To date this post on our website has attracted 848 visits, while the video (which also appears elsewhere) has been viewed 3500 times.

NUMBER ONE – Precious Scotland
PR photogrpahy in Scotland for jeweller Alistir Wood Tait

The runaway winner of our top performing post for 2014 is another oldie – but a goodie.
Way back in 2004 we persuaded renowned Scottish jeweller and gemmologist Alistir Tait to share with us his insights into the precious stones which can be found right here in Scotland.
As something of an adventurer, Alistir had scoured the country, including scaling rocky gorges and panning for gold in freezing rivers.
We gathered all his knowledge into an easy to digest guide to Precious Scotland, complete with a downloadable map.
While it might be 10 years old this content is persistently popular – and attracted a whopping 4639 page views in 2014

There are loads of lessons your business can take away from this – not least that the content you produce for your website now could still be attracting valuable traffic and potential customers in 10 years’ time.

We believe that every business has great stories to share. Sometimes all that’s needed is a wee bit of help from PR professionals like Holyrood PR to dig them out. In fact, that’s why we produced this essential business guide to delivering sexy headlines even for unglamorous businesses.
