Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd Press releases

Legendary Edinburgh house band Tokyoblu will launch its debut single to the city’s hospitality staff in celebration of the end of the festival season.

Groove Tonight’s pre-launch event, which will feature the full live Tokyoblu band, DJs and percussion, will be held at the Red Stripe Party exclusively for those who have slogged it out during the month of August on Sunday September 14 at Opal Lounge.

John Hutchison, a DJ in the band and one of the founders of the club which celebrates its sixth birthday in September, said: “We are very excited about introducing the first of our singles to the hospitality staff of Edinburgh.

“The club scene in this city has been very supportive of our band and club night through the years and we are fiercely loyal to where we come from and want to do everything we can to support and promote the Edinburgh scene.

“Summer, and particularly the Festival, is an absolutely mental time for anyone in the hospitality and entertainment industries. I think this party is a great idea for these people to take a well-deserved break and have a good time.”

The day is being hosted by Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd that operates eight of the city’s most cutting-edge venues. Since its first hospitality event to celebrate the end of the 2007 festival, Montpeliers has hosted a further two events attracting in excess of 500 people each time.

The day will kick off during the day with a barbeque at sister venue Indigo Yard where burger and a beer are available for £5. Tokyo Blu will also be DJing at this event.

At the Opal Lounge event Montpeliers, that also runs Tigerlily, Lulu, Rick’s, Candy Kitchen and Bar, Montpeliers Bar and Brasserie and Assembly, has teamed up with Red Stripe so guests will be greeted with a can of the retro lager. For the girls there will be glasses of Pampero rum cocktails.

The party is strictly invite-only. Managers at hospitality venues throughout Scotland are being urged to reward staff with a night off and put them on the Montpeliers guestlist to receive a wristband invitation for the Indigo Yard barbeque and Opal Lounge party.

Reservations must be made in advance for the barbeque and people will need a wristband invite to attend. The Opal Lounge event is free to attend, prior RSVP is essential.

David Johnston, Development Director at Montpeliers (Edinburgh) Ltd, said: “The end-of-season parties have become legendary and they continue to get bigger and better every quarter.

“Since Montpeliers launched the bash last year we have managed to find an excuse to host four nights to let the hospitality industry have a great night out on us and let their hair down after a mad season.

“And this summer it is going to be the biggest and best yet with Tokyoblu’s debut single, the barbeque at Indigo Yard and premium complimentary drinks.”
