HOTEL PR SUCCESS AS TIGERLILY RECRUITS BARMAN FROM VIRGIN ISLANDS

AN EDINBURGH barman has made a dream move to work in the sunny Virgin Islands thanks to the training he received at Edinburgh’s leading nightspot Tigerlily.

Mark Shuter had finished a two week training course at the boutique George Street bar and was serving on his very first night at Tigerlily when he was head-hunted for the Caribbean position by his future employers – who were enjoying a drink at the Edinburgh nightspot and were impressed with his prowess.

The young mixologist, who was inspired to become as barman after watching the Tom Cruise film Cocktail, said: “I trained at Tigerlily for two weeks, and learned things I’d never heard of – as far as I know it’s still Edinburgh’s number one cocktail bar.
“I can say without a doubt that I never thought I’d be getting paid to live in the Caribbean.
“Most people save all year just to be here for two weeks.”

Raised in Musselburgh, Mark worked in manual labour for years until he finally took the plunge into bar tending.
He was a bar supervisor within just a few months, and soon after was recruited by boutique bar Tigerlily on Edinburgh’s chic George Street.
