Mother’s Day is normally a safe haven for busy, hard-pressed mums – a day to be pampered and given time to relax.
But irreverent greetings retailer Scribbler is helping sons and daughters poke some fun at their mums this Mothering Sunday with a range of tongue in cheek cards.
Almost 29 million cards are sent in the UK each Mother’s Day, with Brits spending around £68 million on greetings for the occasion. But with a Scribbler card, mums can expect to get a little more than flowers and perfume this Sunday, March 14.
One retro card reads “Be nice to your kids they’ll help choose your nursing home,” while another states: “Oh my god my mother was right about everything” – ideal for mums with a sense of humour on Mothering Sunday.
The cards from Half Moon Bay retail at £2.50 in Scribbler stores across Scotland and England, and online at www.scribbler.co.uk.
John Procter, who owns Scribbler said: “Every mum has a special bond with her kids no matter what age, but that doesn’t make them immune from a little good-natured teasing.
“We all know that mums – who are usually the ones who bring up kids and run the home – have to have a good sense of humour.
“So, I’m sure any son or daughter sending these cheeky cards will be doing so in the spirit of good fun – at the same time as absolutely spoiling their mums on Mothering Sunday.”
