Holyrood PR in Edinburgh discuss impact of effective PR campaign for new licensing laws

Doug Johnstone

FANS and friends have been paying tribute to Iain Banks – by posting pictures online of drams of whisky with his books.

Scores of fans chose to raise a glass to the whisky-loving author, posting pictures of their favourite single malts with their favourite books of his on Twitter.

Fellow Scottish author Ian Rankin kicked off the trend with a Tweet saying “Cheers, Iain! Slainte!” along with a picture of an 18-year-old Macallan and Banks’ The Bridge.

Banks, who died at the weekend, loved whisky so much he won an edition of Celebrity Mastermind with “Malt whisky and the distilleries of Scotland” as his subject.

His first non-fiction book was Raw Spirit: In Search of the Perfect Dram, published in 2003.

The book saw the writer, also the author of the Crow Road and the Culture series, travel around Scotland visiting distilleries and discussing his love of fast cars.
