The Perfect Cabin Retreat

Perthshire Cabin 01 (3)A secluded log cabin home in a wonderfully historic Perthshire glen has come onto the rental market offering prospective tenants the opportunity to take up residence in one of Scotland’s most peaceful and picturesque locations.

The modern log cabin in Pitcarmick, by Kirkmichael, is of timber construction throughout and benefits from secondary double glazing and under floor heating.

It features a living room, kitchen dining, utility room,  master bedroom with en suite, two further bedrooms, shower room and extensive gardens.

The gardens extend to approximately 1.7 acres of landscaped lawns, mature flower beds and woodland, all rolling into quintessential Perthshire countryside.

So beautiful are the surroundings that settlements in the area date back as far as 200BC when the Strathardle Glen was used as a lucrative plundering ground for the Caterans, a group of Highland fighting men who seized cattle grazing on the area’s rich pastures.

The Cateran’s were known as marauders and cattle rustlers, and it is said they often travelled as part of private armies under the command of Highland Chiefs. One of the most famous examples of a Cateran is Hamish Mactavish in Sir Walter Scott’s Chronicles of the Cannongate.

To add to its historical pedigree the area is said to have originally been called Strath na muice brice, or the glen of the bridled boar, a name that it retained until a battle took place on the ground between the Danes and the Caledonians and it was renamed after a fallen chief, Ard-f huil. Since then the Glen has been known as Strath Ard-f huil, or Strathardle.

Charlotte Gilfillan of Bell Ingram, said: “A property as unique as Wester Pitcarmick does not come up on the market very often – so whoever snaps this up will be very lucky indeed.

“The area’s rich heritage is matched by its potential as a place for recreation and relaxation. The property itself has an elegant, spacious interior, and timber construction gives it a real homely feel.’’

“It would be ideal for family looking to settle in the area, especially those with energetic children as the garden has more than enough room for them to stretch out and explore. It would also be excellent for those looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city living.”

The Strathardle area is renowned for being one of the most picturesque in the country, benefiting from beautiful scenery and stunning landscapes.

The village of Bridge of Cally provides all necessary local amenities including a shop, post office, and hotels. For a larger range of businesses Perth and Blairgowrie have all the usual facilities expected of medium sized towns including a doctor’s surgery, bars and restaurants.

In addition, transport links are excellent with Dundee airport providing regular flights to London, and Glasgow and Edinburgh airports offering a range of international flights.

There is a primary school at Kirkmichael and a secondary at Blairgowrie, and the educational possibilities in the area reflect its exclusive beauty with top private schools Glenalmond, Strathallan, Kilgraston, and Blaircowen all in close proximity.

The recreational possibilities attached to the cabin are endless with scope for all country pursuits as well as mountaineering and skiing at the nearby Glenshee. For something slightly more sedate the world famous Rosemount Golf Course is located near Blairgowrie whilst tenants can also enjoy walking and cycling with ease.

The property is currently being marketed at £750 per month with no deposit required.

Established in 1899 and with its headquarters in Perth Bell Ingram employs 130 staff across 11 offices including chartered surveyors, estate and forestry managers, architects, building surveyors, tourism and green energy specialists.
