SCOTLAND’S most exclusive new development has been recognised with a major award win at a glittering ceremony.

The Crescent at Donaldson’s was named the winner in the Private Development Medium category at trade body Homes for Scotland’s (HFS) annual awards, held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Considered to be the most credible in the sector due to its stringent judging criteria, the HFS awards aim to showcase the high-quality work, talent and innovation within the Scottish property industry.

Presented in front of a crowd of 1100 senior industry representatives and guests, CALA also took the top award of Homebuilder of the Year, as a result of its shortlisting for three different developments across its East and West divisions – as well as a win in the Private Development Small category for Riverside at Bothwell, Lanarkshire.

Show apartments launched in early 2019 and The Crescent takes direct inspiration from its architectural surroundings in Edinburgh’s Georgian New Town. The development is proving popular with buyers, with a third of the first phase now sold.

Philip Hogg, Sales and Marketing Director with CALA Homes (East), said: “To see The Crescent recognised at such a major event is greatly rewarding – and testament to the efforts put in by our many teams involved, from planning to construction to sales and aftercare.

“On top of this, we must thank many of our key suppliers and partners, who have been integral to the creation of the development – and a notable mention for Richard Murphy Architects who have helped us to create a truly modern take on the iconic Crescent street.”

Judges were hugely impressed by both the diversity of product on display within CALA’s submitted projects and the passion of the CALA team which was witnessed during the site visit and interview stages.

Chief Executive Nicola Barclay said: “Shortlisted on three separate occasions for developments across CALA’s East and West divisions in the Private Development Large, Medium and Small categories, the judges were blown away by the diversity of product on display as well as the passion of the whole team which stood out during the site visits and senior management interview.

“Words such as “spectacular”, “unique” and “simply stunning” were all used to describe these developments, with the panel stating that CALA had truly gone above and beyond in terms of quality of materials, architectural approach and the ability to transform challenging sites with minimum disruption to local residents and the surrounding area.

“Demonstrating pride in everything they do, a huge congratulations goes to CALA Homes.”

Designed by acclaimed architect Richard Murphy OBE, The Crescent comprises some of Edinburgh’s most sought-after new residences.

Situated within Edinburgh’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, the development has been directly inspired by its New Town surroundings, with the crescent shape influenced by traditional Georgian architecture.

The first footers moved into the neighbourhood earlier this year. The range of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, duplexes and penthouses at The Crescent are proving popular with buyers.
