Ayr Care Home Enjoys A Taste Of Success

Bupa Care Services Press releases

A local care home has become the first of its kind in the local area to receive a prestigious Eat Safe Award for food safety.

Bupa’s Claremont care home in Whitletts has been awarded the merit through the Eat Safe scheme, run by national agency Food Standards Scotland in conjunction with local Councils to recognise excellence in food hygiene and food safety management across the country.

Awards are only allocated when a business has achieved consistently high food hygiene and training standards beyond what’s required by law. This reassures consumers that the food served in premises with the coveted Eat Safe seal of approval is prepared with the utmost care.

Carol Barr, Home Manager at Bupa’s Claremont care home, said: “At Claremont, we’re always working hard to keep food hygiene and safety standards high, while also making sure our residents have tasty and nutritious meals.

“We’re so happy that all our work in this area has been recognised with this respected award, as it means we are really going above and beyond.

“We always strive to offer the very best care possible in every aspect of our work and we’re particularly pleased to be the first care home in the local area to win such an accolade. We’re going to display it with real pride at Claremont.”

Eligible establishments are assessed for the Eat Safe Award as part of scheduled food hygiene inspections carried out by councils. The scheme was launched in Scotland in 2005.
