Summer Catering Wins by a Nose at Racecourse

Sodexo Prestige Press releases

Stephen Frost, executive chef with Sodexo Prestige in ScotlandSummer is the biggest time of the year at Hamilton Park Racecourse, with a busy race schedule and a host of other events making use of the extensive grounds and marquees.

So the team at Sodexo Prestige, which provides catering and hospitality services at the racecourse are working on a series of exciting summer themed events, with a selection of exclusive catering options.

The expansive grounds at the racecourse make it an ideal venue for outdoor events, such as open days, family fun days and BBQs and can accommodate anything from 50–4000 people. Prices start from £16.95 per person and bespoke packages can be created to suit a range of client needs.

Stephen Frost, the executive chef in Scotland for sports, leisure, workplace and events with Sodexo, and his talented team of chefs have created a summer menu with a barbecue theme.

Hog Roasts

Highlights include delicious BBQ’s and hog roasts served with floured baps, homemade apple cider sauce and hand rolled sage and onion stuffing, offering a great talking point at any event.

Continuing the summer theme the venue is also offering a selection of drinks which include jugs of Pimm’s, tropical fruit punch cocktails and jugs of summer fruit smoothies, which are perfect for warm days.

Sodexo Prestige has also teamed up with ice cream maker, Equi’s, which is  based in Hamilton and provide race themed ice creams on event days such as ‘jockey choc ices’ and a ‘mint trot chip’ flavour scoop.

The ice cream maker has also developed its specially-named Golden Stirrup ice cream, which is available exclusively at Hamilton Park. It is a delicious mix of chocolate ice cream and honeycomb pieces topped with a gold decoration.

Food and drink is locally sourced where possible, with pork from Robertsons of Ayr and the rest of meat for the BBQ provided by Campbell Brothers, in Buccleuch, Southern Scotland.

Outdoors

Kathryn Jones, general manager with Sodexo Prestige at Hamilton Park, said: “Summer events are where we have our most fun and despite the fact that the weather in Scotland can be a bit hit or miss, we still have lots of enquiries from companies and event organisers looking to create the perfect day.

“Our packages and menus have all been created with the outdoors in mind and a BBQ or hog roast can provide that little extra something to traditional conferences, training days, open days and fun days. It’s great to see people’s reactions when lunch is going to be a suckling pig rather than a traditional sandwich or sausage roll!

“This year we have launched our range of summer drinks which can be served alongside or as an alternative to tea and coffee and they have been a huge success with clients so far. We have carefully selected a range of alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks, which use the freshest in- season fruit, which are simple, easy to drink and above all refreshing.

“As well as summer catering we can also work with clients to offer a range of outdoor activities, such as bouncy castles, clay pigeon shooting and pitch and putt.

“Most importantly though, it is essential that any summer event has an alternative just in case the weather fails, and here at Hamilton Park we have lots of indoor space which can be used for activities and all our food and drink can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors.

“It is these extra touches and seasonal menu options which really help make a summer event a success and ensure they are a talking point with clients, delegates and local people for weeks to follow.”
