Successful Scottish PR Drum Beat has Channel 6 on the Fringe of Success

The Edinburgh Fringe can be a worrying time for many – acts worrying if people will come to see them, residents wondering if they can ever get through the crowds to go home, barstaff wondering if people will ever stop shouting for drinks – but one group who wasn’t worrying was the team behind the Fringe website.

It’s had some not so good PR in the past but this year Edinburgh-based multimedia firm Channel 6 were involved in looking after the online box office.

That project saw Channel 6 integrate a new box office system – developed by Red 61 – and the Fringe database with the Fringe website so customers were effortlessly able to check show times, book seats and buy tickets online. The team was also tasked with avoiding the well-publicised demand problems that hit the site previously.

And the work lead to good news for C6 freelancer Colin Pickup. On the back of his work during the project, Colin, a graduate in artificial intelligence and software engineering from the University of Edinburgh, is now full-time with the company.

All of this good news needed an outlet though and Holyrood PR were well placed to take it to the UK’s top must-read media sector magazine and website The Drum, who took the information and put it online.
