Panton McLeod maintains high media profile thanks to Holyrood PR PR in ScotlandOne of the UK’s leading water quality engineering firms is urging 10 million customers across the UK to raise a glass as it celebrates its crystal anniversary.

Panton McLeod has urged the 10 million people who benefit annually from its services to have a drink from their taps – in order to appreciate the firm’s meticulous cleaning and repair work that helps keep their supplier’s water at the highest quality across the UK.

Scottish-based Panton McLeod has issued the invitation after passing its landmark 15th year within the UK’s water industry – an achievement that has seen the firm progress from a fledgling business to one of the most respected names in its sector over the past decade and a half.

The crystal anniversary milestone comes following a period of expansion for the Borders-based firm, which recently bucked the recession by investing in a new fleet of vehicles and employing new staff, as well as having its contract with Severn Trent Water renewed for another 24 months.

It also comes amid an ongoing drive to promote the company’s specialist cleaning and repair services to the North American market through its U.S. division Panton McLeod Americas.

Iain Weir, Managing Director at Panton McLeod, said: “We’re delighted to be celebrating our 15th anniversary in the UK water industry. It’s been a long journey for everyone at Panton McLeod and there has been a lot of dedicated hard work that has gone into achieving this milestone.

New landmark for water experts

“Over the past 15 years, we have grown from a small Scottish company to a highly respected leader in our industry.  We now work closely with the biggest water utility companies in the UK and are seen as a trusted expert in our field, which is a testament to the dedication and effort of every one of our members of staff.

“We’re proud of our Scottish roots in the Borders, which has been the home of our headquarters for the last decade and a half. Although the business has grown in recent years and our work now takes us across the whole of the UK and the USA, we still pride ourselves on giving the same high level of personal, professional service as we did when the company was first set up.

“We intend for the next 15 years to be equally successful as we strengthen our position as the leading water quality engineer and repair expert in the UK and overseas.

“We’d like to take this opportunity to urge our customers to have a drink on us to celebrate our landmark. Just fill up a glass from your tap and taste the results of our expertise for yourselves.”

Panton McLeod was founded in 1994 by company chairman Jim Panton – an influential figure with more than 40 years experience in the water industry, both in the UK and in South Africa where he grew up and was educated.

After a period away from managing the business at the start of the decade, Jim returned to the company in 2004 to assist in developing further the company’s new technologies and business opportunities from its head office in the Scottish Borders.

Jim Panton said: “Under the added guidance of Iain Weir, our group CEO, we are very proud to have worked our way up to the elevated position we currently enjoy within the UK water industry. Our glowing reputation in the UK and overseas is the result of 15 years of tireless work from all of our staff across the board.

“We’re now looking forward to the next 15 years, which will see us continuing to provide our specialist work across the UK, North America and, hopefully, even further afield.”

Over the past 15 years, Panton McLeod has perfected highly-specialised methods and developed treatments which thoroughly clean and disinfect structures used to store potable drinking water without compromising water quality.

The firm has also pioneered the use of underwater robots in the UK which are used to inspect and clean these structures while they are still on-line – meaning that there is no disruption to customers’ supplies.

The machines are remotely operated and fitted with camera and lighting equipment, which allows staff controlling the sub to assess the state of cleanliness and need for repair of the interior of the tanks. They are also used solely within clean potable water environments and meticulously cleaned and disinfected prior to every use to ensure they can be safely used in the public water supply, and Panton McLeod conducts rigorous tests before and after each inspection.

In recent years, the firm has grown from its headquarters in Newton St Boswells and it now has further offices in Nottingham and in the United States. The U.S. base in Denver, Colorado, is the hub for its North American division Panton McLeod Americas – which is currently revolutionising the way water storage structures are cleaned and inspected across the USA.
