Friday afternoons between 3.30pm and 5pm are the most dangerous times for burst pipes, boiler problems, electrical incidents or roofs caving in. PROPERTY PR

With the increase in the appliances and electronics, the wiring may start to feel a pinch. Check out Contractors Website to learn about the company that can inspect, repair and install electrical wiring.

That’s the view of Edinburgh-based Edinburgh-based One Call Trade Services, one of Scotland’s leading all trades contractors providing insurance repairs, maintenance and renovations to clients throughout the UK who see an above-average percentage of their calls come in at that time.

And it’s incidents across the board, giving the team behind the firm’s new One Call Home Assist service plenty to do.

One Call Home Assist, which was set up earlier this year as a low-cost alternative to fixed maintenance contracts offered by energy suppliers such as British Gas and Homeserve.

Friday is their busiest day with more than 25% of their calls coming in on that day – and the bulk of them in the afternoon.

Sales Director John Dickson said: “We’ve tried to analyse why it is, but there’s no rhyme or reason to it. I’ve noticed over the last few months that while we have plenty of unpredictable moments there’s always a spike in things going wrong at the tail end of a Friday afternoon.

“Sometimes it’s something that’s happened earlier in the week and people just haven’t got in touch and the weekend looming has jogged their memory but more often than not something’s just happened and they have to get it dealt with.

“I don’t know if some of the incidents happen because people are starting to relax more and get ready for the weekend and that can lead to carelessness which can lead to the cause of some incidents.

“It’s just strange, but now staff on a Friday start looking towards the clock as the weekend approaches just waiting for the rise in calls to come in. They know it’s coming.

“And we appreciate that it’s the weekend for people, so we get crews out as fast as possible to try and minimise the inconvenience. After all, it’s not much of a weekend if you need your plumbing or roof mended.

“But it’s good people are calling – that’s what we’re here for. They shouldn’t be trying to tackle these things themselves. That’s why we offer this service across Scotland – trained, affordable professionals who can sort these things out for you.

“Why should you risk life and limb fixing electrical problems or roofs? That’s what we do. It’s our job.”

And he joked: “Having said that, I’m just dreading the next Friday the 13th – Who knows what that will be like?”
