TATTOO TODAY GONE TOMORROW (Laura)

One of America’s most violent and infamous white supremacist who proudly displayed his beliefs via a series of violent tattoos on his face, has shunned his face and taken the first steps into being a normal member of  the community after having his trademark tats removed. The pictures in the Daily Mail article show the incredible transformation of Bryon Widner after 16 months of laser surgery to remove the trademark racist symbols which gave away his darkened past. More than being a physical transformation, process reflects a personal and emotional transformation, which has allowed Bryon to ditch his extremist beliefs and begin living a normal life, without the fear of being judged for his past. The series of operations were filmed for a documentary and Bryon who now lives with his wife and kids hopes that his story will inspire, other with a past like his to ditch the white movement and their extremist beliefs.

A CRASH COURSE IN THE WORKINGS OF THE WORLD’S BIGGEST TECH GIANTS (Scott)

Talk of tech matter used to be the preserve of those with specialist coding or IT skills. Now, of course, companies like Google, Apple, Facebook and Amazon ensure that the tentacles of tech reach into every aspect of our lives -whether in work or wind down mode.

As well as fuelling the massive financial clout of those big four tech giants it has also put them on collision courses with each other. This article might be long, but it zips along and is one of the best insights into these four giants that I have read. Highly recommended.

RUSSIA’S MOUNTAIN MYSTERY (Aimee)

It’s officially Halloween today so another excuse to upload another creepy spine tingling link from the web.  Today I invite you to explore the mystery of the nine campers who perished in Russia’s Dyatlov Pass.  In 1959, ten normal, healthy cross-country skiers set off on a camping trip in Russia’s Ural Mountains.  One of them, Yury Yudin, didn’t realise at the time that his unfortunate luck at falling ill and turning back before the first night’s camping saved him from whatever horrors his friends suffered before their mysterious death.  What made the skiers slash their tent open from the inside to battle through the snow practically naked in temperatures as low as -30 degrees?  Why did the Government seal of the files relating to the incident? If that hasn’t hooked your interest then the reports stating that three of the individuals had fallen victim to inexplicable crushing injuries and the tongue of one of the women was missing surely will!

THRILLS AND CHILLS AT THE WORLD’S BEST HALLOWEEN PARTIES (Adrian)

Despite its spooky reputation, Halloween tends to fall a little short when it comes to giving proper scares to those of us who celebrate it. Yes, there’s a lot of ghosts and skeletons around, and a lot of people dressed in supposedly ghoulish attire – but unless you’re 10 years old you’re not going to be scared by it. However, if you’re looking for a terrifying Halloween experience, there are still a few places in the world where October 31st parties are less about slutty costumes and boozing, and more about screaming in terror. Take a look at these five insane Halloween parties from the Unites States and pay particular attention to the Queen Mary bash in Los Angeles – a crazy event held on a former cruise ship, filled with mazes, gore and hundreds of specially-trained “monsters”. Sign me up for next year.

HALLOWEEN LIGHT SHOW

With Halloween fast approaching, some people are taking putting up decorations a little too serious. This household has transformed their entire exterior in to one big Halloween light show with the lights moving in time to the song Party Rock Anthem. I love the idea but can only imagine that their neighbours are not too keen on the idea as this light show is on for nearly 4 minutes.
