Sponsorship of Dunedin Boys’ Club

Waterfront Edinburgh Limited Press releases

A boys’ football club has scored essential new strips thanks to the company that is revitalising a stretch of Edinburgh’s shoreline.

Waterfront Edinburgh Limited, one of three landowners involved in the £1billion regeneration of Granton Waterfront – a 15 year project to deliver 8,000 homes and thousands of jobs – has pledged to provide a donation of £500 a year for four years, to Dunedin Boys Club, based in Granton.

The Under-9s group required new strips this season. The support of Waterfront Edinburgh Limited will enable the club to benefit from vital new strips or other materials on an annual basis.

Steven O’Neil from the club: “We are extremely grateful to Waterfront Edinburgh for providing their support. It is absolutely vital for us.

“This year we were provided with new strips as we desperately needed them. The support will prove very useful because, as a small team, £500 worth of kit is really valuable.

“The boys are all loving their new strips.  We have a good team here, and some of the kids have been invited for training with professional teams.

“Support like this will help us nurture talents and be able to provide more for the boys.”

The team trains in the Wardie playing fields off Granton Road once a week. Its new season begins in March so the boys can have more of their play time through the summer months rather than in the cold winter.

Jane Dennyson, Marketing and Communications Manager at Waterfront Edinburgh, said: “We are delighted to be supporting the young footballers at Dunedin Boys Club.

“Community projects like this are integral to what Waterfront Edinburgh wants to do in the region. Social inclusion is at the heart of Waterfront Edinburgh’s work, providing job opportunities while also creating a diverse community.”
