A multi disciplined firm of independent land and estate agents, has added another string to its bow with the latest appointment at its fast growing Oban office.

Hugh Nicol, a Chartered quantity surveyor and qualified project manager, will bring over 25 years experience in the construction industry to his new role at Bell Ingram, which will allow the firm to expand its range and depth of rural land management services.

Belonging to Argyll and with family throughout the West Highlands and Islands, Hugh has the advantage of valuable local knowledge of the history of the area whilst bringing relevant overseas industry experience to seal Bell Ingram’s reputation for exceptional service and skilful handling of rural estate management matters.

Hugh is the only quantity surveyor to be currently employed by Bell Ingram and the first to be employed at the Oban office.

He said: “Bell Ingram already provides a full range of management and estate agency services to a range of existing clients.

“My new role means I can develop this consultancy business by adding a new dimension to the work that we can undertake, something that no-one else is offering in the Argyll area at the moment.

“My background is in the construction industry but the principles and ethics involved within this sector are essentially the same and so easily transferred. I have also recently qualified as a ‘RICS Registered Valuer’ which will add to the required skills suited to the role.

“After working in Edinburgh, Australia and Guernsey it’s exciting to return to where I call home and be in the position to bring valuable industry experience to benefit the people within the local community.

“I’m looking forward to building on these and developing new skills for a firm which is held in such high regard locally and nationally.”

Bell Ingram derives its roots in rural land management and currently manages hundreds of thousands of hectares of private ad corporate estates from across the UK.

Paul Nicoll, Director at the Oban office, said: “We pride ourselves on maintaining a local touch and having a unique understanding of the local community which means we can provide a very personal service.

“Hugh is perfect for the role as he comes with a strong understanding of the West Highlands and the islands. But being able to combine this with his experience of travelling extensively is what set him apart, as it is solely because of his unique skill set that we can now offer a broader range of services.

“Specifically his position means we can offer more rural land management services to developers, architects and landowners and be in a stronger position to advise such clients on all aspects of rural property management, development and sales to meet their needs.

“We are delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to seeing how he can enhance our quality and range of services.”

Established in 1899, Bell Ingram is a multi-disciplined firm of chartered surveyors, forestry managers, estate agents, architects, building surveyors and energy specialists. With more than 130 professional staff across 11 UK offices they provide local knowledge with national coverage.
