Bield Service Users Play Boss

Bield Housing And Care Media Coverage

Recruiting for PR Scotland

28-MAY-Bield

RESIDENTS at a care home in Anniesland have been given ultimate power in their care after playing the bosses to recruit a new day care manager, social care PR.

Bield’s Munro Court landed coverage in the Care Industry News for launching the innovative idea which involved putting together an interview panel giving us the opportunity to mock up scenes which are no stranger to the UK’s screens.

Allowing them to even ask the questions, service users lapped up the opportunity which saw the home welcome Julie McLoughlin as the new day care service assistant manager.

The resource centre manager at Munro Court, Karen Reid said “We believe that our service users should be involved in the development of the service we provide, and we realised that this should include choosing new staff members.

“As a result of this process Julie McLoughlin was chosen as our new day care service assistant manager, and I think having service users involved in her appointment has contributed to how well she has integrated with everyone here.”

This groundbreaking idea seems to be a natural way to help run such services, as some of the service users spend the majority of their time at for example, Munro Court, and therefore need to be able to work daily with staff.

Bield is a charity that has around 170 locations across Scotland which contributes to the quality of housing support and care provided for older people within Scotland.

The full coverage can be viewed on the Care Industry News website and was secured on behalf of Bield thanks to an proactive PR campaign with Holyrood PR.
