Gaming pensioners hit media headlines with the help of PR experts
THE MASTERS golf tournament was celebrated in an unusual way by residents at a Scottish Care Home – when they tackled a virtual version of the world-famous US course.
Older people living at Cramond Residence used Nintendo Switch consoles to challenge each other and staff to play rounds of virtual golf during the tournament, one of the four Majors which are the golfing world’s biggest events.
In our hands, this kind of event is turned into social care PR gold – and our team of PR experts delivered the following results:
- 11 valuable items of coverage
- 146,906 opportunities to see
- Coverage in multiple golf-focused publications; Bunkered, Golf Today UK and Golf Club Management
- Valuable trade coverage in respected journal, The Carer
- Social coverage across multiple platforms with a reach of 90,512
Holyrood PR helped Cramond Residence achieve results that showcase the home’s ability to engage the older residents in technology and integrate it into their everyday lives.
Coverage in Care and Regional publications puts Cramond in front of the right people, whether that’s potential customers or new talent.
The tournament is played every year at Augusta National golf course in Georgia, with the winner claiming the coveted Green Jacket. It was live streamed for residents in the home’s cinema room. One of the golf-loving residents, Dr Loudon, also led a presentation on the history of golf – read the full details in our original media release.
As well as working with Nintendo switches, the home previously introduced residents to popular, flower identifying app, [email protected], helping residents conquer fears of tech. Find out more at our dedicated Cramond Residence client hub.
Cramond Residence offers high quality care for up to 74 residents, maintaining a minimum ratio of 1:4 care staff to residents during the day.
