Ten Hill Place Accessible toilets coverage, showcased by Hotel PR

WHEN Edinburgh’s largest independent hotel made small changes to its toilets, we made sure the news had a big impact.

Following the announcement of a year-long partnership with Bowel Cancer UK, Ten Hill Place made alterations to all its disabled toilets to make them easier to use for guests who may have been affected by bowel cancer or inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s.

The hotel, which is managed by Surgeons Quarter – the commercial arm of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd) – is added shelf and installed a hook behind the door of its toilets to enable visitors with stoma bags to be able to use them comfortably.

The media was hooked on this story, with highlights including:

  • Circulation of more than 239,744
  • 15 cuttings
  • Print coverage in Edinburgh Evening News, Essentially Catering and The National
  • Social media buzz on Facebook and Twitter from influential accounts such as Colonoscopy UK, Invest Edinburgh and Hotel News Scotland

Sharing the news of the small change made by Ten Hill Place gained strong coverage that raises awareness of this issue and may pave the way for more hotels and business to follow suit and implement small upgrades to their toilets.
