Musselburgh Racecourse is transforming its famous grounds into a child’s dream with a whole host of amusements on offer as well as an exclusive Shetland pony race.

Kicking off at 11:30am on Sunday 24th April, the doors will open to a range of free entertainment including bouncy castles, fairground rides, exciting carnival style games, a birds of prey display as well as professional racing for families to enjoy together.

If that isn’t enough, attendees will also be able to join the VIP guests of the day in the parade ring from 12:40pm. The Shetland ponies, which will travel to Musselburgh from all around the UK, will be available for kids to visit ahead of the first official race of the day.

Star Attraction

Aisling Johnston, Musselburgh Racecourse Marketing Manager, said: “We’re extremely excited to welcome all of the families on the day. We’ve really pulled out all the stops this year and can’t wait to see the looks on the kid’s faces as they enjoy all of the exclusive fairground style activities on offer.

“The Shetland Pony Derby is a fantastic addition and will no doubt be the star attraction of the day. To add to that, we are also welcoming children 17 years and under in for free when accompanied by an adult, so we are encouraging racegoers to bring the whole family along and enjoy a day out together.”Musselburgh Racecourse - Easter Sunday Family Day. Exclusive packages, including the Picnic Pavillion package which offers first class views, guaranteed rain cover and the opportunity to bring your own picnic, are still on offer for the prestigious event on 11th June.

Musselburgh Racecourse is now firmly established as one of the UK’s most stylish racecourses, hosting 28 flat and jumps meetings each year. Already popular with racing enthusiasts, it is increasingly becoming a draw for both families and corporate clients.
