The boss of Unchained Restaurants has appeared in the Edinburgh Evening News predicting that a prolonged sunny spell could deliver a much-needed boost to hard-pressed businesses.

Rob Reeley wrote a column for the paper, the biggest selling news title in the Scottish capital, saying many businesses are dreading another washout summer.

The owner of a renowned restaurant and hotel has warned of the parking hazards for businesses near the Scottish course which is hosting the 2013 Open Championships.

Huge numbers of golf fans will descend on Gullane, East Lothian, when the prestigious tournament is held there in mid-July.

Now Rob Reeley, owner of the Golf Inn in the village, has made headlines after warning how the draconian parking restrictions will stifle business during what should be a boom time.

His views have been reported in both the Evening News, the main paper serving Edinburgh and the Lothians and have also appeared in the influential East Lothian Courier.

He also insisted East Lothian Council could solve the problems at a stroke by turning a grassy area, known as Goose Green, into a temporary car park for local workers and hotel guests.
