Scottish fishing reels in recent media success
TWO of Meridian Salmon Group’s employees have been honoured recently for their pioneering role in the industry thanks to Scottish PR.
Paul Irving, fresh water manager at Meridian Salmon Group’s Holmwrangle hatchery, and Colin Blair, seawater director for Meridian Salmon Group were named among a selection of “founding fathers” of the Scottish salmon farming industry in Scotland.
Paul has been in the industry for almost 35 years and Colin has been with Meridian Salmon for almost 30 years.
News of the great honour was picked up by a number of leading publications including The Cumbria and Westmoreland Herald, The Argyllshire Advertiser, and the Agryllshire Advertiser online.
This media success for the fishing giants reflects the on going work of the award winning team at Holyrood PR – and their dedication to telling stories that are at the heart of every business.
Nets of coverage for new salmon plant
A new salmon processing plant has begun operation on the doorstep of Rosyth. Even before opening in November, Meridian Salmon Group announced that they intend to expand the ultra-modern processing plant, creating in excess of 300 new jobs.
Praise of the new plant came from Helen Eadie MSP, which caught the attention of the local and surrounding press, making huge headlines in The Courier, The Orcadion, Argyllshire Advertiser and Dunfermline Press.
Salmon sales trump Christmas puddings
Who would have thought that the traditional christmas staple, the christmas pudding, would have been outsold by succulent scottish. Not the media – that’s when our story for Meridian Salmon Group featured in The Herald and the Lanarkshire Online.
The pieces featured comments from Mark Warrington, managing director of Meridian Salmon Group, who said:
“It’s no surprise to us as the largest salmon smokers in the world that smoked salmon has outsold Christmas puddings this year.
We are proud to serve up this healthy and nutritious treat year round also and it is welcome news to all who work hard to produce top quality salmon”.
