TWO staff members from a Falkirk very sheltered housing development have dived in head first to raise a massive £1,660 for charity.

Kim Bell and Julie Henvey from Bield’s Thornhill Court have chopped a lengthy 15 inches off their hair in support of the Little Princess Trust, which has provided children with specialist real hair wigs since 2006.

Kim said: “We both had really long hair before so it was certainly a big change getting it cut and not to mention a great chance to do something worthwhile for charity at the same time.

“We are absolutely delighted with the amount of money that has been raised overall. It’s a lovely cause and we are just happy to have contributed to it.”

The pair not only collected the whopping contribution but also donated their hair to the cause.

Kim added: “It’s a strange feeling having such short hair now but it was well worth it for the kids that will benefit and my hair is certainly more manageable!”

Little Princess Trust has helped thousands of boys and girls find real hair wigs suitable for them and has extended its mission to include the provision of financial assistance for research into the causes of childhood cancers and into minimising the effects of chemotherapy in children.

This is just one in a long line of activities Bield staff members have taken part in to raise funds for charity and typifies Bield’s ‘Free to Be’ ethos, which aims to enable people to make their own choices and live as independently as possible.
