WITH Christmas markets a firm festive favourite, a care home in Lanarkshire has found a novel way to make sure that residents don’t miss out, by setting up a market inside the home.
Staff, residents, friends and family at the Bupa Kirknowe care home have banded together to bring the winter market to the home, helping ensure everyone has the chance to get in the yuletide spirit.
The event had a plentiful array of stalls, games and other Christmas celebrations will bring some festive cheer to the residents who look forward this annual tradition at the home.
Getting in the season of giving many locals have kindly donated the items in the market along with gifts to give away. On top of that, a local artist has donated bespoke hand painted canvases and a nearby arts and crafts store provided winter warmers such as scarves and hats as well as jewellery.
Sandra Reynolds, Home Manger of the Bupa Kirknowe, said: “December is truly a wonderful time of year in the home as we are always jam packed with events and activities to get the residents and staff in the festive spirit. Going to a Christmas market will be a fond Christmas memory for many of our residents and it is just great that we are able to recreate that in the home.
“We have so many different stalls this year, including an arts and crafts stall, a bottle stall, a raffle, a tombola and of course our scrumptious food tables so we are sure to have something for everyone. We are so incredibly grateful to everyone who donated to our winter market allowing it to be bigger and better than we even imaged.”
Ensuring no-one will be left without something to take away from the day the home is getting everyone involved with its ‘Everyone’s a Winner’ game where everyone will win a festive prize.
Bupa’s Kirknowe Care Home has a warm, friendly environment with all the facilities and standards of care and hygiene that would be expected in a Bupa care home.
Residents are made to feel completely at home and with the help of their experienced staff, Kirknowe encourages them to lead as active and independent a life as possible.
