Bield’s Ochilview Court Receives Golden Media Coverage For CANalympics

Bield West Lothian Courier Coverage, CANalympicsResidents of Bield’s West Lothian retirement housing development, Ochilview Court, participated in a local sporting event – the CANalympics.

The CANalympics is a local sporting event that is run by the West Lothian Care Activity Network. It has been very successful over the past four years, encouraging older people in in care homes, day care, sheltered housing and care at home to meet other tenants in the local area and increase their physical activity levels.

Mabel-Anne Fraser, Development Manager at Ochilview Court, said: “This was the first time we had taken part in the CANalympics and the tenants had such a fantastic time.Bield Coverage, CANalympics

“It is a really effective way to bring everyone in the local community together and for the tenants to meet up and chat with those from other developments in the area. It also highlights the importance of exercise for people of all ages and encourages the tenants to keep physically active and have fun while they do it.”

The event proved to be a golden success among residents as and local media publications; winning a full-page spread of coverage in the West Lothian Courier which accounts for an audience of 8513 readers. It also saw Bield coverage, CANalympicsexposure in the Scottish Housing News and Housing Scotland Today.

The media coverage the CANalympics received, contributed to further integrating care developments with their local communities.
