No scams about it – SBRC’s mega month of coverage

Scottish Business Resilience Centre Media Coverage

HOW OUR SCOTTISH PR AGENCY DELIVERED THE GIFT OF COVERAGE AND MORE IN THE MONTH OF DECEMBER

It’s probably the last thing you want to think about at one of the most expensive times of the year, but seasonal scams are a real threat to Christmas shoppers.

With the expertise of our client, the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC), we took the opportunity to warn punters about the heightened risk of hoax vouchers and fake goods around the festive period.

The cyber team at SBRC had uncovered a new scam, promising Facebook users the chance to win one of 1000 vouchers worth £150 at Morrisons.

Winter sales shoppers were also told to be aware of counterfeit goods at this time of year, with signs pointing to a rise in the damaging trade.

Using some helpful advice and tips around avoiding these festive scams, we helped SBRC to reach an impressive total of 1,206,072 people in the month of December.

Some of the highlights included:

  • A feature in popular national newspapers, The Sun and The National
  • A total of 32 items of coverage around scams in December – excluding other SBRC coverage
  • Hits in regional and local publications including Edinburgh Evening News, Edinburgh Live, Northern Scot, The Gazette, Kirkintilloch Herald, Milngavie and Bearsden Herald, Paisley People, Banffshire Journal and Cumnock Chronicle
  • Specialist coverage online on DIGIT

With national, regional and local coverage ticked off, we sent these warnings far and wide across the country, further enhancing SBRC’s reputation for keeping Scotland safe.
