Scottish Business Resilience Centre Media Coverage

A SUCCESSFUL MONTH OF COVERAGE FOR THE SCOTTISH BUSINESS RESILIENCE CENTRE THANKS TO HOLYROOD PR.

April PR Success for Scottish Business Resilience Centre

EXPERTS in cyber security at the Scottish Business Resilience Centre (SBRC) took the media by storm during the month of April, with three key stories being shared to the press by Holyrood PR.

We gained an impressive range of coverage for SBRC across print, online and industry-specific media.

Firstly, an inaugural conference set to take place at RBS Gogarburn in Edinburgh in partnership with RBS and Scotmid Cooperative is planning to address key risks to critical business sectors in Scotland.

Scotland’s Retail and Tourism Conference 2018, the first of its kind to be hosted by SBRC will bring together small and medium enterprises to arm them with the training and expert insight to help manage risk that both industries might be exposed to, from fraud to the most sophisticated cyber attacks.

We shared word of the conference to the media, gaining all-important print and online coverage.

The highlights included:

  • Print coverage in The National and The Scotsman
  • Online coverage on The National and Insider.co.uk
  • A total reach of almost 85,000 people

The original press release can be found here.

Next up was the SBRC’s resident Chief Ethical Hacker, Gerry Grant, and his warning to Scottish businesses about the growing threat of ransomware attacks.

After the discovery that up to a third of business admitted they would pay a fee should their business be held to ransom, Holyrood PR worked alongside Gerry on a feature to warn organisations that they should ‘plan to fail’ when it comes to their cyber security.

By following simple guidelines, such as always updating software when it prompts you to do so and backing up all files, businesses can be more resilient in the face of ransomware attacks and will be able to recover quicker should they fall victim.

The highlights of this story included:

  • National print coverage in The Scotsman and The Courier
  • Reaching a total of over 30,000 people

The third success story of the month of April was a comment piece by Gerry about digital risks to the retail and tourism sectors for a national newspaper.

He highlighted the importance of such sectors to the Scottish economy which rely so heavily on digital operations in their day-to-day running, and how they must prepare against attacks – as one small organisation could be wiped out with the infection of ransomware in the system.

As an exclusive piece, the story gained coverage in:

  • The Edinburgh Evening News – both online and in print
  • Reaching a total of 49,714 people

The comment piece by Gerry can be read here.

In total, the stories we shared on behalf of the Scottish Business Resilience Centre reached a fantastic 178,548 people during the month of April.

Holyrood PR can help to make sure your stories are heard and key messages delivered. By gaining widespread coverage for SBRC, we are helping to cement their reputation as the leading business resilience team in Scotland, particularly when it comes to risks surrounding cyber-security which can affect any size of organisation.
