Welcome to Fife featured news of Meridian Salmon Group’s plans to expand its new state-of-the art salmon processing facility before it’s even open.

The expansion has been welcomed with it being set to further improve job prospects for Rosyth which will see the creation of 200-300 jobs when the facility is fully operational in its first year.

Once completed, the facility will become the biggest salmon processing plant in the UK, representing a major investment in the UK by Morpol, the company’s Polish owners.

Managing Director Mark Warrington said the project is attracting interest both locally and within the industry.

He added: “The scale and scope of the Rosyth plant means we will need to take all the time required to get the facility properly constructed and fully equipped to the specifications we need, specifically to meet the high standards required for our intended customer base.”

The building will be fitted with equipment custom made for Meridian Salmon Group and will be capable of processing more than the 24,000 tonnes of salmon that the company currently produces each year.

The coverage can be viewed on the Welcome to Fife website and was secured on behalf of Meridian Salmon Group thanks to a PR campaign with Holyrood PR.
