Space Solutions GlasgowSpace Solutions’ Glasgow division is forecasting a record sales year following a surge in orders for the workplace design and relocation company.

The Glasgow team secured a number of significant project wins during 2009 totalling £1.8million – with £1.45 million alone being secured in the last 12 weeks of the year.

The success puts the division 20% up on budget forecasts and with another potential £1.5 million worth of new orders in the pipeline it is expecting to achieve record annual sales.

The largest of the contract wins involves Space Solutions being appointed by St Andrew’s First Aid to support the design for the proposed refurbishment of their Listed St Andrew’s House headquarters in Milton Street, Glasgow. The project encompasses essential repairs to the building fabric and the re-planning and refurbishment of both training and staff areas.

Space Solutions’ success within the dental sector was boosted further with an award from North Lanarkshire NHS to project manage, design and install decontamination rooms at 12 Primary Care Dental Services within the region.

The success of Space Solutions’ Glasgow office – based in Bath Street – is also reflected in its fast growing team which now numbers nine staff. Among the new starts were Mark Butchard, Interior Designer and Space Planner; Mike Christie, Senior Quantity Surveyor; John Jackson, Business Development Manager; and Ross Anderson, Studio Manager.

Commercial Manager John Mulgrew said: “The Glasgow office is going from strength to strength. We have enjoyed a strong year in 2009, particularly over the last three months of the year. This has seen us exceed sales forecasts by 20%.

“We have built up an excellent team which we look forward to developing further as we continue to grow market share in 2010.”

Director Derek Binnie said the company’s achievements are a testament to how successful it has been in helping other businesses deal with the challenging economic conditions.

He said: “There will not be many businesses in the property sector that will see their sales increase during the worst recession in living memory.

“What we do is help companies understand the full potential of one of their greatest assets – their property.

“With many companies adopting the policy that ‘every penny is a prisoner’ there is a real demand for solutions that provide maximum impact matched to a budget.

“We look to provide more than just a space solution – to understand where the business is going and where it wants to go, its challenges and the physical environments. That allows us to provide practical solutions that can demonstrate actual savings and benefits.”
