02 St Cuthberts Fence to useMeridian Salmon Group is to help Rosyth Wanderers AFC make a splash this season by sponsoring new match day jackets.

The company, which is building a state-of-the-art processing plant in Rosyth, stepped in with a £600 donation after receiving a request from the team.

Jon Harrison, chairman of Rosyth Wanderers AFC and former Aston Villa footballer, said: “We’re really grateful to receive this sponsorship from Meridian Salmon, which will provide our players with their first professional uniform.

“For a while now, the manager, players and committee members have felt that we needed something a little more up to date for our players to wear, helping create a sense of unity.

“We’ve worked hard over the past few years to build the experience and the reputation of the team, so it is fitting that they now have something which will help them look as good as they play.

“It’s fantastic to see a successful company such as this supporting a local club.”

Last season was the team’s first year in the Fife Amateur League Division 1 and it accomplished its goal of finishing mid-level. With a number of new players the team hope that this season will see them progressing to the Premier League.

Meridian Salmon Group agreed to support the club as part of its commitment to support groups, charities and organisations in the local communities in which it operates.

Business Support & Primary Processing Director Willie Young said: “Meridian Salmon has a strong company commitment to helping local groups such as the Rosyth AFC and we are delighted that we have been able to fund their match day jackets.

“The club is an important part of the local community and we look forward to seeing their progress this season in our colours.”

Meridian Salmon Group is one of the top five salmon farming companies in Scotland, employing 350 people. It operates at 59 sea sites and eight freshwater sites across Scotland and Cumbria and is currently developing its new facility in the former Lexmark building in Rosyth, which will be the biggest processing plant in the UK.
