SCOTLAND’s top chef has teamed up with an alternative therapy expert to create the ultimate healthy dining experience – including a chocolate pudding that’s actually good for you.

Michelin star chef Tom Kitchin and Lubiju’s alternative health specialist Deborah Ramsay developed the ‘Recline and Dine’ package, offering a holistic massage followed by an antioxidant-rich lunch at The Kitchin.

Lubiju is a renowned cosmetic dento-facial practice, which boasts a holistic health and therapy suite. It is based in Commercial Quay, Leith, where its neighbour is the critically acclaimed Kitchin restaurant.

As part of Recline and Dine, customers first enjoy a holistic massage or facial treatment designed to energise and rebalance the body and mind, followed by a superfood lunch to boost health and well-being.

The menu includes a mocktail drink and a chocolate mousse dessert with raw chocolate shavings, but with the added twist that the usually calorie laden treats are actually packed with health benefits.

Deborah, who worked with world famous nutritional expert Patrick Holford, founder of the Institute for Optimum Nutrition, said: “Lubiju and The Kitchin are each leaders in their particular fields and being neighbours we share a great passion for our products and it seemed like the natural thing to work together.

“With my background in nutrition and holistic massage and Tom’s reputation as one of the country’s leading chefs we knew we could come up with something special. We wanted to come up with a package that is fun and enjoyable, while helping people look after themselves.

“Everyone enjoys being pampered with a massage and Tom’s menu will leave Recline and Dine customers feeling refreshed and buzzing with health for days afterwards.”

The massage will take place in the holistic health suite at Lubiju. Customers then head downstairs for lunch in the award-winning restaurant.

I work very closely with my suppliers to ensure that the produce I receive is of the highest quality and always in season.

“The menu I have chosen for Recline and Dine is extremely healthy and designed to provide nutrients and bring about feelings of wellbeing. Combined with a holistic massage treatment customers couldn’t ask for a more enjoyable, healthy treat.”

Lubiju holistic therapy suite is the alternative branch of Lubiju’s dento-facial cosmetic practice and specialises in relaxation treatments, hypnotherapy and nutritional techniques.

The suite was established in May 2009 by Ayurvedic massage practitioner and nutritional consultant Deborah Ramsay, and now includes the combined services of holistic body therapist Blair Mason and hypnotherapist Peter Davies.

All treatments are customised to suit individual needs and take place in a specially adapted therapy room, with mood lighting, relaxation music and shower facilities.

The Kitchin was opened in June 2006 by husband and wife team Tom and Michaela Kitchin on Edinburgh’s stylish Leith waterfront.  In January 2007, The Kitchin was awarded a coveted Michelin-star, making Tom the youngest ever-Scottish chef/proprietor to achieve one at the age of 29. This accolade was a real achievement for a restaurant whose doors had only been open just over six months previous.

The Recline and Dine package is now available and costs £185. To book an appointment call Lubiju on 0131 553 5959.
