RAEDEN COURT STAFF GO THE EXTRA MILE

Blackwood Press releases

Raeden Court Staff Sponsored CycleEnergetic staff have ensured residents and tenants at Raeden Court Aberdeen and Blackwood customers across Aberdeen have a happy Christmas by taking part in a running and cycling super-marathon sponsorship.

Teams of staff took on the challenge to cover 30 miles per team to link in with their 30th Anniversary Celebrations and to raise funds for the Christmas Party at Raeden Court. Staff covered more than 150 miles on a static cycling machine and treadmills during the sponsored event within the complex. Tenants and staff raised sponsorship money for the challenge.

Raeden Court, which also celebrated its 30th anniversary, is a modern housing complex with homes designed for adults with disabilities. Care and Support is provided to people within their own homes by Blackwood and it also provides 24 hour care and support within the residential care facility to adults with varying levels of care and support needs.

Diane Allan, Regional Manager for Blackwood, said “Staff were determined to mark the landmark anniversary by raising money to support residents and tenants and customers in Aberdeen in an unusual way.

“After collecting more than £280, they decided the best thing to do with the money was give residents a memorable Christmas by planning a bumper festive party.

There were many highlights and surprises at the party with Garry Seagraves Magician who delighted and wowed everyone with his magic. His tricks and illusions kept everyone enthralled from card tricks, disappearing money and the levitation of Diane Allan (Regional Manager) which amazed and enthralled everyone.

Peter Mitchell, well known celebrity in Aberdeen, volunteered to be Santa Clause with everyone getting a small gift and the night concluded with a disco, party games and raffle.

Our raffle prizes this year ranged from an IPad, Kindles, cash prizes and many other gifts which had all been generously donated from friends and family of staff, residents and tenants.”

Diane Allan said “We cannot thank everyone enough for their very generous donations which helped us plan our bumper Christmas Party this year with prizes that have exceeded previous years. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the evening and we are looking forward to planning our next event”.
