A CALIFORNIAN tech giant has purchased a Scottish firm specialising in delivering networking and communications solutions.
Hamilton headquartered Provista UK had recently recorded record revenues of £7.7million, following consistent and profitable organic growth throughout its 11 years in business.
The firm’s sound financial model paired with its status as the only independent Scottish based firm to hold Cisco Gold Partner status helped attract the NASDAQ-listed PCM to acquire the business and instantly expand its UK footprint.
In the past year the 33-strong firm has landed major public sector contracts for NHS Lanarkshire and South Lanarkshire Council, adding to a client list that already includes Wood Mackenzie, Stewart Investors, Aggreko, AG Barr, Digby Brown, Balfour Beatty and Greater Glasgow NHS.
These organisations benefit from its expertise in areas such as Unified Communications, Secure Wireless, Cyber Security and IP LAN & WAN & Data Centre Solutions with both traditional and cloud offerings.
Stuart Little, Director with Provista UK, said: “Our success over the past 11 years has come because we’ve been able to offer a friendly, personable service, while being able to deliver using our expertise on large contracts typically associated with our large, often multinational, competitors.
“When PCM contacted us and shared their vision for the UK, it fit perfectly with our own ambitions to accelerate the growth of Provista in the UK – while maintaining our customer-focussed culture.
“After having built the business to achieve Cisco Gold Partner status, it is exciting to now be able to be part of PCM and take the business to the next level.
“We can now offer our solutions and services across the UK while complementing the other robust PCM offerings.”
Provista UK now has its sights set on future expansion, by leveraging its new parent company’s wider network – and is hopeful that it can further boost investment in marketing, business growth planning and operations.
The firm has its headquarters in Hamilton with satellite locations from Aberdeen to Birmingham, and has built up its reputation responding to market demand for a more responsive and tailored service.
The joint business will allow Provista to expand operations into PCM headquarters in Sheffield along with offices in Northampton and Liverpool, significantly boosting its UK based footprint.
Provista already boasts some of the most experienced and highly skilled consultants and engineers in Scotland, after years of investing profits, creating high quality careers and training from within.
No jobs will be lost following the takeover and the board will remain in place to oversee further recruitment throughout the UK, including more jobs in Scotland to support the expansion.
Frank Khulusi, Chairman and CEO of PCM, Inc, said: “The acquisition of Provista UK is yet another key milestone for our new UK segment that will further enhance our capabilities and strengthen our position as a value added solutions provider in the UK marketplace.
“I am pleased to welcome the team at Provista UK to the PCM family and look forward to continuing our growth and success in the UK market in the coming years.”
Donavan Hutchinson, Managing Director, UK & International for PCM UK, said: “I am extremely excited to advance the PCM UK portfolio and footprint with the addition of the respected team at Provista UK.
“With the combined investments that we have made organically, coupled with the acquisition of Provista UK and The Stack Group, we are positioned to accelerate our UK growth across all advanced solutions categories.
“I look forward to working with the Provista UK team as we jointly continue to take market share.”
Barry Oliver, Director with Provista UK said: “Provista UK is delighted to be joining PCM UK, adding to PCM’s recent growth and investment in the UK. The combined business compliments both organizations as PCM gains Cisco Gold Partner status in the UK, backed with Provista UK’s portfolio of services and solutions. Provista UK expects to leverage PCM’s wider investment in the UK and access to complementary markets and solutions.”
